Sights in Rodos

Rodos is one of the most cosmopolitan islands of Greece, it attracts thousands of tourists from all parts of the earth. Its charm stems from its long history combined with its incomparable natural beauty. The major attractions on the island are the Palace of Grand Master, in the northwestern part of the medieval city which constituted an integral part of the fortifications and currently works as a museum, the medieval walls, built on the foundations of Byzantines and formed the perimeter of the fortified city, the ancient city of Rodos, which was designed by Milisio Hippodamus uder the famous Ippodammeio system (vertical and horizontal roads creating symmetrical building blocks), the Archaeological Museum, to which is made an extensive reference, the Aquarium, that has the marine ecosystem of the island and operates as a museum with stuffed fish and corals, the Monte Smith hill, the Acropolis of Lindos, which rises to 116 m above the sea and constitutes a natural fortress offering a magnificent view, and finally, the Valley of the Butterflies.
