The Valley of Butterflies or Pelekanos belongs administratively to the village Theologos. It is a small and dark pine-clad valley, crossed by a stream, forming ponds and small waterfalls in its course. At the time of visiting, the gray butterflies sleep on the shady sides of logs of trees or around the roots, like bats. The sight of the colony itself is impressive but if the butterflies awake form a cloud of butterflies, whic is particularly striking as it reveals the orange color of their feathers. It has been proved that noise is detrimental to their reproduction, so visitors are forced to move slowly and silently along the specifically formed path. The Valley is open in summer from 8:30 to 18:00 and the entry costs 0.9 euros.
